emerald city comicon (eccc) was a blast! it was my first comicon and being able to troop the event was even better! terry managed to finish the ahsoka costume just in time and it looked awesome. boo was a huge hit at the con, and we were asked to stop for photos everywhere we went! she even made it into a few newspaper articles, too.

our 501st booth was set-up by seattle's garrison titan and had line-ups all day for photo ops with the various star wars characters that appeared on various days. and it wasn't just the geeks and nerds you might expect to see at these type of events! although, there were plenty of those.

so i've mentioned my friend terry, right? well as we started talking about attending the emerald city comicon in seattle in march, i thought it'd be real cool if boo could have a costume, too. terry offered to make her an ahsoka costume in time for the event (which at that time was less than 2 weeks). here's some photos from the build, which turned out incredible considering how little time he had, and better than anything available for sale online!

the raw materials included some fabric terry had in stock, some tights, shirt and boots from the mall...

the head tails were probably the most complicated to create in time, but they turned out really well...

terry even had time to make an ahsoka backpack complete with little rotta creature (not pictured here, but you'll see in the comicon shots)

we did a dress rehearsal at home the night before we left for the comicon, complete with face-paint and lip gloss by mommy! boo was so excited about it, she had practiced the ahsoka poses all week!

i've been working hard to finish my suit in time to attend the next appearance request for our local badlands garrison, which was a visit to canuck place hospice to surprise some of the kids there. i was thrilled to be able to join a few of the others a couple of weeks ago, in what turned out to be a very meaningful first troop. here's some pics from our visit (resident's faces blurred for privacy reasons).

most of the kids seemed happy to see us, but i think it was the staff that was even more excited we were there! one of the nurses transformed into leia on the spot, complete with hair in buns and two white sheets from a nearby linen closet!

and here's everything put together! i finished it all just in time last week to get approved into the 501st Legion, which means i can start 'trooping' events officially now. every member needs to pick a number which identifies what kind of costume they have. so mine is TK-5929.
