…ok, basically what’s on the wishlist.
time to go SLR? our little canon SD750 has been serving us well, but it just doesn’t come close to our friend’s photos with their SLRs! the D40 seems pretty affordable now too, being an older model. do you have any recommendations for a light, compact and decent quality SLR?

not bad. great visuals on the bi/tri-planes, but the movie quickly turned into a love story between von richthofen (the baron) and the pretty nurse.

I'm taking an intro SLR class at the moment and out of 15 of us, half have either the Nikon d40 or D50, the other half have the Cannon Rebel. And then there' s me and one other person who don't have either. So it certainly seems to be a popular choice.
One thing the D40 doesn't have is live view but once you get used to the whole SLR thing that probably won't bother you cause you'll want to use the viewfinder anyway.
